About John S. Hall & the Memorial Award:
The John S. Hall Sr. Memorial Motorcoach Industry Award honors the memory of John S. Hall Sr., founder of Anderson House Tours & John Hall’s Alaska. John made his life and living setting industry standards of exceptional motorcoach service, elevated tour standards and excellence in customer service and experience.
The love of the motorcoach and travel industry stretched beyond the imagination. This memorial award recognizes applicants who share a commitment to strengthening the future of motorcoach industry through expanding personal education, skilled trades specific to supporting the motorcoach industry including motorcoach operators and mechanics. An ideal candidate would be committed to the future including promises to engage, lead and support the future of motorcoaches.
John believed that motorcoach operators and mechanics were the foundation of the industry. Individuals were trained with a strong foundation and principles, allowing the company to achieve standards unlike a traditional operator.
In that spirit, this memorial award is intended to support individuals who want to further their education or training in ways that benefit motorcoach companies, employees, passengers, and communities for years to come.
Memorial Award
– Memorial awards may be granted in amounts up to $2,500 per applicant.
– Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, tools, certification costs, licensing, technical training, continuing education, or other approved education-related expenses.
– Final award amounts and the number of recipients will be determined by the memorial award committee and approved by the John Hall trust, based on available funds and applicant qualifications.
Ideal Applicant:
The ideal applicant will demonstrate an interest in furthering education, training, or professional development that supports the motorcoach industry. This includes individuals pursuing careers or education connected to motorcoach operations, maintenance, mechanics, safety, transportation management, workforce recruiting, driver engagement, customer service, tourism, logistics, or related fields.
Applicants should show respect and understanding of the motorcoach industry, including operators and mechanics. Supporting examples will be provided to explain how their goals will help recruit, engage, support, or prepare the next generation of people who will carry the industry forward.
Eligibility:
– Applicant must be pursuing or planning to pursue education, certification, apprenticeship, technical training, or professional development that supports the motorcoach industry.
– Applicant must be able to demonstrate connection to or interest in the motorcoach industry.
– Applicant must submit a complete application and all required materials by the stated deadline of November 1, 2026.
– Applicant must be in good standing with any current school, employer, training program, or professional organization, if applicable.
Application Requirements:
– Completed application form.
– Personal statement or essay explaining interest and future in the motorcoach industry.
– Include future location of interest for education
– Current education information including:
– Transcript, training record, certification enrollment confirmation, acceptance letter, or other document showing current or planned education or training.

Please submit a typed essay of approximately 500–750 words responding to the following prompt:
In memory of John S. Hall Sr., describe your interest in the motorcoach industry and how your education, training, or career goals will help support its future, aligning with and supporting John Hall’s vision of preparing individuals for employment in the motorcoach industry. Please include how you believe motorcoach operators and/or mechanics contribute to the foundation of the industry, and how you hope to be part of the next generation of industry professionals shaping the motorcoach industry.
